Mini-Movers |
2-3 years |
Mini-Movers provides the opportunity for children to be introduced to the fundamentals of jazz, ballet and acrobatics. Children will participate in activities aimed to enhance motor skills, sense of rhythm and coordination and improve social development. |
Ballet |
4+ years |
Age appropriate ballet elements will be taught with a focus on posture, body alignment, flexibility and strength. Ballet vocabulary will be used to explain various exercises. Students will practice their technique at the barre, in the centre of the room as well as through progressions across the room. |
Jazz |
4+ years |
Through this highly energetic, freestyle form of dance, which stresses the use of rhythm and flexibility of the body, students will develop their personal style and endurance. Dancers will showcase their newly learned kicks, turns and jumps in a choreographed routine. |
Tap |
4+ years |
Studio 12 tappers will be both dancers and musicians. Tap is an audible form of dance, in which sounds and tone qualities are created by the feet. Tap is highly recommended for the preschool student as the tap sounds add another dimension to dance making it enjoyable, and by offering instant rewards. This dance style challenges the body and the mind. Age appropriate tap technique will be taught, with a spotlight on rhythm, timing and musicality. |
Hip Hop |
4+ years |
Hip Hop is one of the most popular forms of street dance that has crossed over to the mainstream. Stamina and endurance will be tested in high-energy hip hop classes. This street inspired style will utilize current popular music and allow students to express their own unique style. |
Acro |
4+ years |
Acro is the most athletic of all dance forms. It stresses the extreme flexibility and requires a great deal of upper body strength. Gymnastics elements, including tumbling, partner and group tricks will be taught and combined with jazz choreography. |
